Lugging photographic gear around while riding , as many of you would know , can be quite cumbersome often impacting how your ride . It seems Lowepro have come up with a backpack that is well suited to the travelling rider without realising they did it .
The Flipside Trek series of bags , coming in sizes 250 , 350 and 450 are almost perfect .
We tested , and have converted to using these backpacks in ,
the 350 size and found that everything for a month long expedition , regardless of where in the world is perfect . The Flipside Trek backpacks have a dedicated camera section that has enough storage for everything you need , we ' ve been carrying a full size Nikon Pro series camera with zoom lens as well as an additional prime lens and accessories . The backpack also has two separate compartments for personal gear , one that is large enough to fit food , or even additional clothing or wet-weather gear , the second compartment fits note pads , small tablets and other items like travel documents . Tucked away in the top is also a waterproof cover that easily slips over the whole pack . The downside is that the 350 size will only fit a 10 " tablet , we usually have a 12 " ... a minor inconvenience .
On the back the Lowepro Flipside Trek is one of the most comfortable camera backpacks we ’ ve come across , allowing for day-long use even when negotiating rough terrain or hiking off bike .
Padded shoulder straps , linked with a smaller chest strap , is often more than enough however , in extreme conditions using the waist strap adds additional stability and load baring . When this is used it also allows the backpack to be pulled around to the front and dropped to provide easy access to the camera compartment which is accessed via the back facing area .
