RST suggest that their Adventure-X pant is a must for all adventure riders , updated with input from Dakar finisher Mick Extance .
The Adventure-X is an updated of RSTs former offering , a product that we were big fans of , getting many years and many more kilometres of worldwide travel from a single pair .
The Adventure-X feels lighter and yet has a stiffness that the
previous iteration didn ' t , this is mainly attributed to the MaxTex material that definitely feels better than before . Additional ballistic material is used on high impacted areas and while RST claim that this is triple stitched we couldn ' t find evidence on our sample pair . Impact protectors are fitted to the knee area however , not the hip despite provision for aftermarket pads to be added . This could be a featured missed by many riders , and is a major omission for the MotoCAP ( motocap . com . au ) safety rating where the RST Adventure-X only scores 1 / 10 , a similar rating for the abrasion test due to the nature of textile pants . However , the pants do score 10 / 10 for the resistance to burst at the seems .

The Adventure-X pant has a removable water-resistant liner , which RST says is both waterproof and breathable , we found , like Goretex , that this is indeed the case however , not together , the liner breathes well enough when dry yet when wet there ' s no breathability at all .
RST has continued with the hook and loop adjustable waist band instead of a button or clasp to hold the pants snug around the waist . It works extremely well , although can
