televisions The Amazing Race and something conjured up by the Wacky Races .
We were the only Australians amongst the teams , all others from the United Kingdom , and all embracing the spirit of the event . Costumes were plentiful . Mario and Luigi ’ s sisters had turned up , resplendent in their work overalls , although it ’ s a brave plumber who decides to work on Indian drains . A surfboard sat atop one such rickshaw , although we ’ d beg to question whether any Brit has actually seen a surf beach . A giant rubber ducky sat on top of a trio tri-wheeled machine , father and two sons quacking their way to Mumbai . Of course , football teams and favourite rock bands were represented . And of course , we Aussies chose the middle package that neglected to include wild paint schemes and plush seating .
The activities start with a practise session around a carpark , bemused locals watch on as the machines , now more commonly being called Tuk Tuks , were thrashed about , the idea was to become accustomed to driving with something similar to a motorcycle handlebar whilst slowing the machine with a pedal that required to be stomped on rather than pushed . Gears and clutch are all on the left grip , pull the clutch in and twist the grip simultaneously and gear change ,
