The claims were being made by the current champion of the infamous Finke Desert Race , a winner of the event four times and equal third on the all-time list of victors , yet here in the dense bush , mountain trails and plentiful rivers , David Walsh was out of his comfort zone and being challenged by the terrain .
“ This is awesome , something so different for me ,” he added with a grin as wide as the mountain vistas .
For David Walsh , winner of the last four Finke Desert Races , and equal third on the all-time list of titles , this was indeed something different , he ’ s used to racing the desert sands of central Australia and not the mountainous trails and bush tracks of the countries south east , but it ’ s all in a days work for Josh Rykers and his crew at Next Level Dirt Bike Tours .
