TRAVERSE 59
Heads turned as a thunderous sound rolled over a nearby hill , a cloud of dust formed , and the first signs of equine beast became apparent . In a blur of colours , a seemingly out of control herd came racing towards us , the crowd cheered , the horses driven by children frantically whipping the reigns from one side to the other most without stirrups , a symbol of supremacy in Mongolian culture , some believe that the modern version of the horse-riding foot support was developed by the Mongols , providing an advantage when shooting arrows from horseback . There ’ s no evidence to suggest this is the case however , the stirrup is regarded as a tool to becoming a man .
Dust filled the air as the hooves stomped the ground with a thunderous racket only beaten by that of the cheering crowd .
