restrictions on movement , it ’ s had little impact except to put greater strain on the people and exacerbate the poor living conditions and reduce any hope of improvement for the people .
“ The living conditions in Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh are dire ,” Imran continues . “ The lack of proper infrastructure and resources has resulted in poor sanitation , overcrowding , and limited access to clean water .
“ The camps witness the birth of hundreds of Rohingya children each year , who grow up without basic human rights . These children live in unsafe conditions with poor sanitation and overcrowding … as a result , they are constantly exposed to disease and illness , making their lives fragile and vulnerable .”
Restrictions in movement has also seen a drastic reduction in the ability of the refugees to make a living , regardless of how meagre it once was . The local Bangladeshi population earn on average US $ 28 per month , the Rohingya once earned US $ 19 however this is now considered a good income as many struggle to scrape together a single dollar .
