First hearing of the Adventure Spec Supershirt , I was burning to try it , two reasons stood firm .
First because of the innovative concept , a long sleeve top with CE AA level impact and abrasion protection that eliminates the need for a big , bulky jacket without forgoing the safety .
And second because it is Unisex . Usually , women must contend with lower protection , fewer choices and features mostly aimed at the occasional pillion . Not this time . The stretchy material fits snug to all body shapes and the sleek yet casual design suits all .
After a short wearing-in period , the Supershirt becomes wonderfully comfortable , without the feeling of wearing safety gear . The Adventure Spec Supershirt allows complete freedom of movement both touring long distances and actively riding offroad . The protectors stay in place , the extra length ensures that the shirt does not pull up and the thumb holes keep the sleeves down to protect the arms in a scrape .
Women with small to medium chests will find the chest protector fits fine , but ladies with larger chests might find it a little uncomfortable as it doesn ’ t adapt to the larger shape and can feel like being pressed against a board , personally I chose to remove it , reasoning that my bike jackets did not have one either .
The zipper is out of the way to the side and looks good yet feels a little flimsy . The one I ’ m wearing has not actually broken , but it does feel delicate for the daily abuse that it is put through .
Used to carrying a lot of things in my jacket I wish the Adventure Spec Supershirt had a pocket or two , the lack of has forced a change of habits . Hopefully , the next iteration features pockets .
Choosing safe yet appropriate gear for the weather has become much easier . With a three season riding jacket riders become resigned to a boil-in-the-bag experience in the heat and a slow cooling effect of the wind chill . Now just wearing the Supershirt
