TRAVERSE 50
at the front and 170 / 60-R17 at the rear , all pulled up with twin 320mm diametre discs on the front and 280mm at the back end . We believe this bike will soon finds its place well within the larger displacement adventure sector .
The Moto Guzzi Stelvio on the other hand , continues the entirely Italian tradition that was born on the shores of Lake Como in 1921 .
Beautiful and elegant in its lines , the Moto Guzzi Stelvio evolves on the travel and adventure front with what has already struck with the Mandello , of which it shares the engine , yet is a different bike structurally . The frame is more suited to adventure-style touring rather than the road sport-touring riding of the aforementioned .
Designed at Aprillia in Noale , the Stelvio is assembled as per tradition in the historic headquarters in Mandello and is based around the 90-degree transverse liquidcooled V-twin of 1,042cc displacement . The twin-cam , quad valve is controlled with ride-by-wire and capable of 115 horsepower . The Stelvio offers amongst its accessories , side cases with a patented system that locks them simply by closing the passenger seat .
Amongst the novelties is the Royal Enfield Himalayan , a motorcycle that has cemented itself as a world favourite with travellers , solo and group . The new Himalayan has been changed dramatically compared to the previous version with plenty of new features that should see the popularity grow , and yet the essence of the machine remains .
The Royal Enfield single cylinder has seen an increase is size from 411cc to 452 , the now water-cooled engine producing around 40 horsepower . With it comes a frame redesign that includes 43mm Showa upside-down forks . With the improved suspension comes an increase in ground clearance . Aesthetically , the instruments have seen a great change and are now fully digital . The lines of the bike are more rounded thanks to a redesigned fuel tank , that has seen an increase to 20 litres .
Contact with the road is via a 21-inch rim at the front and 17 inch on the rear . There ’ s also an option for tubeless rims to be fitted . Engine mapping is now available with two modes ; performance or eco , and the throttle position is controlled by ride-by-wire .
Amazingly , Royal Enfield also had on display an electric Him-E , perhaps a
marketing ploy as very little details were available . Two other Italian houses presenting at EICMA in the adventure field displayed technical and stylistic contents so exceptional , and expensive , that it is hard to believe that it will be possible for them to truly commit to the purpose .
MV Agusta presented its new LXP , a bike dedicated to the pass multiple wins on the Paris-Dakar with Edi Orioli , the bike named in his honour . Cagiva has done similar with a nod to the Dakar with it ’ s Lucky Explorer machine , harking to the days of cigarette sponsorship .
The LXP is said to be a luxury all-terrain machine with a very elegant look and is powered by the MV 931cc triple . Limited to just 500 units the cost will be around 30,000 Euros .
Bimota put on display its new Tera , a crossover powered by a 998cc H2 supercharged engine from Kawasaki , the parent company . The Tera is supposedly putting out 200hp and has steering that takes on the latest evolution of the ‘ Tesi ’ indirect design . Size Makes the Difference While some manufacturers such as Suzuki have equipped their flagship models with a 21-inch front rim , Honda surprised everyone by presenting its Africa Twin Adventure Sports with a 19 inch . A choice that follows the request of many of its customers looking for a motorcycle with extraordinary travel features like the Africa Twin , the best-selling Honda model in Europe , but more agile and easy to ride with a technical choice . It follows the common path that many other manufacturers in this sector , like BMW , have chosen as many riders seem content with the less offroad aspect of the bikes , a compromise between quick handling and off-road
