Up-cycled fashion , one of those latest fads , a way of “ saving the planet ”, and yet when it comes to it one small Australian business stands out .
Afroblonde was created by those working in the fashion industry who realised that their industry was the world ’ s second largest creator of pollution and felt that
change was needed . Whilst travelling outback Australia they witnessed the many trucks , roadtrains , carrying goods that were covered with canvas tarpaulins , each with its own story told through stains and wear .
It was an opportunity to create something that fit both worlds , fashion from the disused canvas , becoming hats , shoes and more .
The Legionnaires cap is one product that Afroblonde produce , made entirely from recycled truck canvas .
With a UV protection rating of 50 +, the Legionnaires cap is the perfect protect from the harsh Australian sun while providing a unique , one-of-a-kind look like each hat has its own style and characteristics .
The caps fit well , thanks to an adjustable clasp at the rear , the stiff canvas soon forms to the shape of your head and in many ways fits better than a more traditional cap . The canvas does have a downside in that it ’ s thickness doesn ’ t breathe as well as some materials , it ’ s a minor issue as the material is durable and has already been proven by its initial use .
