Andamooka hasn ’ t changed much since the early days of the 1930s , the focus is still opal , and like all other Australian opal mining towns Andamooka has developed its own ways , mining techniques , constructions designs , and way of life .
Fossicking for opal is encouraged in Andamooka although visitors must be mindful of claims , speaking with a local is a great way to understand the rules and to get an understanding of where to look .
