An aspect of Soviet influence that also remains to this day is that of green areas . Ulaanbaatar has many beautiful parks and although most are in varying states of disrepair they offer a chance to sit , to observe , and to take in the surrounds . None more so than Sükhbaatar Square , the city ’ s centre piece that opens before the Government Palace or parliament .
Sükhbaatar Square was the site of the creation of modern Mongolia and to this day holds a special place in the heart of many of the people .
