what they think of the Soviets and to a lesser extent the modern Russian people and you will get a look of disgust , contempt and occasionally hatred . It ’ s a contentious issue and if put bluntly , the Soviet Russian people are not well liked .
Yet the Soviet styled buildings remain , and thankfully so , as they display a grand presence amongst the city ’ s buildings . Many were constructed during the 1950s when the old ger districts were torn down and replaced with Soviet styled apartment buildings , this then led to a construction boom between the 1960s and 80s when the city centre was being transformed from a city
