The X . Wed 2 by Nexx Helmets has been around for some time now and has become a favourite for those riders who wanted more than what the big brands were offering , it ' s a helmet that has proven popular cementing its place within the adventure / overlanding segment .
An area that has proven popular is the extra attention that Nexx put into rider comfort . A redesign of the internal lining from the predecessor XD-1 aids the helmet conform to the riders head as well as increasing
ventilation . The chin vent is close to being one of the best on the market . Although amazingly the X . Wed 2 only scores 6.3 / 20 for ventilation in the MotoCAP * ratings .
The increased opening to account for the ventilation doesn ' t impact wind noise , the X . Wed 2 is relatively quiet scoring 19.5 / 25 for the MotoCAP testing at sound level of 94.4dBA .
Some of this noise is due to the peak that all adventure style helmets have however , unlike most , the X . Wed 2 ' s peak seems to not behave like a sail and is also adjustable to account for extended position as well as top vent restriction . The peak is of a design that reduces the buffeting as much as possible making it one of the leaders in the adventure helmet market .
The X . Wed 2 is fully compatible with Nexx ' s own communication system as well as having recesses large enough to accept other brands .
Vision is high in the X . Wed 2 with a large opening that also accepts off road styled goggles . There ' s also an integrated drop-down tinted visor .
The Nexx X . Wed 2 scores highly on the safety standards with MotoCAP rating is four stars or 77 / 100 , helmet rotation seemingly the only area where it scores poorly .
While the X . Wed 2 is reasonably comfortable and could be used all day and every day , the MotoCAP results would suggest otherwise as they scored it three stars or 58 / 100 , overall weight ( 1.7 kilograms average across the three shell sizes ) was a contributor to the low score as was the visor that has no
