Headlamps , in recent years , have become a piece of kit that all campers have required , and yes they make a difference , especially on the toilet journey in the middle of the night .
A brand that has been around for a while is Dorcy , the manufacturer of may lighting options for the outdoors , and their 41-2104 model is one of the best .
Compact and lightweight is a must for the motorcycle
traveller , and yet this light , with over 200 lumens of power , packs a punch that sees all around lit up . The 41-2104 offers a snug fit is easily adjustable offering a level of comfort that makes it feel like nothing is there . A wave of a hand or push of a button and the LED lamp will illuminate upto 120 metres . Wave of a hand ? That ' s right , the Dorcy 41-2104 has a motion sensor to activate or deactivate the lamp , although at times we found it to be a little too sensitive , often switching itself off whilst we were working with it at night . It ' s a minor inconvenience that did become annoying at times .
On full power the Dorcy 41-2104 , using three Triple A batteries will last around four hours , on low you can drop the light beam by around two thirds and the batteries will last three times as long . There ' s also an option for a flashing light .
The moveable headpiece allows the wearer to direct the light beam to the desired object , it ' s easy enough to use although a little clunky at times .
An area we weren ' t impressed with was that the motion detector or power switch can be easily activated when the headlamp is packed away , the lights on but no-one is home and the batteries soon went flat , a solution might be to remove a batterry , or all , when the headlamp is not being used or packed away .
