steep sections and narrow hairpin required careful riding . Initially the road continued wide , offering us increasingly sweeping aerial views , but it was once we reach the top of the pass that we were so raptured by the wild beauty of the landscape , a sense of complete solitude and an enveloping quiet .
This dusty road really seemed to get lost through the mountains . After all , these are the places that we like to find , because they awaken ones more intrepid and adventurous side , giving us a deep sense of freedom , and making us happy in discovering the world in a unique and distinct way .
The same feelings were experienced when travelling the much longer Prince Alfred Pass trail , eighty kilometres of dust , curves and landscape that brought us back to
the coast , to Knysna . This quiet town overlooking a beautiful lagoon and fabulous beaches such as Brenton on Sea , the realm of seagulls and surfers .
We were back on the Garden Route and now we were headed to Knysna Elephant Park , where we would meet elephants . Along the Garden Route Tsitsikamma National Park is another delightful surprise , with its cliffs , gorges , and steep slopes to explore , walking on trails surrounded by vegetation and boardwalks suspended over water .
The final surprise awaited us at Addo National Park , one of South Africa ' s most renowned wildlife parks , famous for being home to hundreds of elephants but also buffalo , rhinoceros , lions , and leopards . We spent a day exploring it , searching for all " big five " and with great luck we were also witness to a hunting scene by two lions . Amazing images , as in the best documentary , which were in front of us , making us protagonists of unforgettable moments . Just when everything seemed to be over , a large elephant came toward our off-road vehicle , approaching and looking at us while his great trunk reached out to " sniff " us . Was he searching for fruits and vegetables ? MG / FC
