VISA EXTENSION

The Vietnamese National Assembly has approved an extension of tourist e-visa from one to three months meaning foreigners can enter and exit the country any number of times within a ninety day period without the need of apply for new visas .
The legislative body approved the move on June 24 of this year with the new law coming into affect on August 15 , 2023 . A resounding 470 of the 475 available votes were in favour of the move .
After the new law takes affect it will also see visitors from visa exempt nations like , Japan , South Korea and a handful of Western nations enable to stay longer , from the now 15 days to an increased 45 days .
The move has been made to reduce the stresses and burden created by having to apply and reapply for visas for those that want to make multiple entries , it ' s a move to save time and money . The benefits are seen as being greater stays for tourists and travellers , as well economic opportunities for local businesses .
Eighty nations currently have e-visa applications offered to them by Vietnam , with 25 counties being visa exempt . The new ruling will see Vietnam move more inline with its neighbouring countries .
It ' s believed that the move will see greater numbers of tourists for the South East Asian nation making it one of the regions leaders .
Vietnamese officials are hoping that the new visa opportunities will see the countries tourism numbers rise to pre-Covid figures were the nation welcomed more than 18 million foreign travellers each year .
