1700s it is said to be of a time 800 years prior , yet no one can agree definitively .
The area was fortified in the early 1800s , a mud brick construction , the like of which can be found all over the Kyrgyz countryside . Within a few decades the fort had been razed and a new military construction built . The Russian powers had annexed the city and a new force was coming to the fore as the Russian ’ s encouraged their own people to move to the area
by offer of fertile lands .
As the Bolshevik ’ s took control of Russia , the troops moved further south and eventually the Kyrgyz Soviet Socialist Republic was formed as part of the USSR , leading to a time where the Kyrgyz people began to lose their identity to that of Russian .
The streets of modern Bishkek are seeing somewhat of a revival of traditional ways . The Soviet styling remains yet indications of the past are represented , Manas is
just one , another is the great pride in the ancient history and the State Historical Museum displays that . Although built during the time of the Soviet rule , the museum has grown to be a realistic representation of what it means to a person of the Kyrgyz Republic , something that has occurred since the dissolution of the Soviet Union .
The start of the 1990s saw cultural change within Kyrgyzstan , in fact it started before the USSR collapsed
