The GS ’ s ABS has always been good , and the latest version takes it one step further . The software has been updated to improve stability under braking , it ’ s noticeable . Braking hard on sealed twisties never felt like the bike was at the point of breaking traction , then on the dirt it gave the right amount of response , gripping where it was needed and allowing a little slip as required , of course this is dependant on the mode you are riding in .
The riding modes allow for a number of conditions and styles , perhaps the most welcomed in this day and age of high-priced fuel is the inclusion of an ECO mode utilising the ShiftCam engine technology to increase the fuel range . Riding in ECO mode isn ’ t too noticeable , from both a performance aspect and fuel range , we were getting on average an extra 20 kilometres from the 20-litre tank .
Ergonomics of the latest incarnation of the GS are sound , not entirely comfortable for someone of a taller than 6ft range yet , it is not ridiculously uncomfortable . All day highway riding was easily achievable , unlike many other bikes in the class there were no numb spots , no aching limbs , and at altitude where the
