The Kyrgyz Republic , Kyrgyzstan to most of us , sits uniquely in the oftenmisunderstood world of Central Asia . Extremely close ties with its former Soviet parent state , Russia , has seen a recent cultural development that has moved it away from its nomadic past and take up something seemingly more mid-twentieth century however , the Kyrgyz people have embraced a political system far removed from that of Soviet times creating a paradox of cultures and economies .
Kyrgyzstan is the smallest of the former Soviet states of Central Asia , located within the Pamir and Tian Shan mountains , it is landlocked by the likes of China and Kazakhstan , touching Uzbekistan and Tajikistan , neighbouring Afghanistan , and Pakistan . It ’ s not unreasonable that it is misunderstood and confused yet riding the vast openness of this country is an adventure into the unknown , a landscape as diverse as anything on Earth , a discovery of a people steeped in history , of their own adventures , to a connection to the lands around them .
