Exhaustion was becoming apparent as the group waited for the support vehicles to catch up , hampered by thick scrub and grasses that had overgrown the track , leaving in places no sign of a route to take .
A decision was made , the Madigan Line and Old Andado Homestead would not be reached , the challenge too severe , too taxing for all concerned , we ’ d return on the fifty or so kilometres back to the previous nights camp . Tempers were frayed , whispers abound , the best laid schemes .
Beautiful colours of a setting sun and the serenity of a desert air could not dampen the tension building , some directed at the track , most at the event organisers .
