Mutonia is a park that demands attention . Many stop , have a quick look , and continue on ... the adventurous stop for a while and explore , trekking beyond the gate and wire fence to discover the even more weird and wonderful . Giant insects , people reading , a rock band , and enormous flowers , everything is covered for the imaginative .
Walk a little further and you ' ll find the ' Ghan ' Hover Bus . Perhaps a nod to what could ' ve been or a tribute to the past , for Mutonia , or more aptly , Alberrie Creek was a siding for the old railway that ran through the outback , creating many of the small communities that remain . Evidence of the rail line exists in the form of the Oodnadatta Track yet many of the settlements , outposts , and sidings disappeared when the line was moved to a more suitable location over 40 years ago . Mutonia pays some tribute to that past , keeping Alberrie Creek
easily accessible from either the south ( marree ) or north ( william creek ), mutonia is a must
