Yamaha hs released a new version of it ' s already impressive Ténéré 700 World Rally representing the company ' s ultimate version of a long distance adventure bike , tracing its history back to the very beginning of the world ' s toughets race .
In 1983 Yamaha ' s first Ténéré changed everthing . Long fuel range and a go anywhere attitude it became a best seller , opening a new world of adventure and motorcycle travel . Forty years later that heritage has been recongnised as Yamaha as produced an exclusive go anywhere bike .
Inspiration comes from six Dakar vistories at the hands of a legend , Stéphane Peterhansel , with a bike that represents a past full of glory . Long distance rally features , lightweight Akrapovic slip-on muffler , long travel forks , rally inspired wheels , and a flat rally styled seat are all complimented with a race design livery harking back to the days of old .
Yamaha says that this premium bike is the most sophisticated in the range , with dual 23 litre fuel tanks and the now famous high torque 690cc engine , class leading KYB suspension and an electronics package like no other , this bike is ready for your next big adventure .
Yamaha won the very first Dakar in 1979 , a result that inspired the Japanese company to design the very first Ténéré , it was a bike created to take the adventurous anywhere , a philosophy that continues to this day .
The very first production model Ténéré was released in 1983 , it was a rugged bike with long range fuel capacity , and plenty of torque , instantly becoming a travel icon that anyone serious about long distance had to have . The racing pedigree was an added bonus that saw many riders take on the world ' s toughest events .
The latest Ténéré World Rally pays tribute to those riders who challenged the unthinkable including Peterhansel , who in 1993 took the third of his six victories , and the fifth for Yamaha . The bold blue , with silver and pink stripes is reflective of that victory thirty years ago . Yet , this is a bike with more than just a nice new paint job . The tanks , suspension and more are all areas that Yamaha took inspiration from their race bikes .
Yamaha has confirmed that the bike will be in dealerships some time later this year but are yet to confirm a date however , we can confirm that the new livery will featue on the race bikes of Pol Tarrés and Alessandro Botturi in coming events .
