At the lower end of the ADV Motorcycle pant price range , you ’ d expect that the Rallye 2 by Australian company Motodry would be , well , on the cheap side , and you ’ d be wrong .
The Rallye 2 is an all year ( multi season ) pant designed for the adventure market , well-constructed , using some of the latest fabrics and design techniques .
Key to the Rallye 2 construction is the use of 600
Denier H / D abrasion resistant material that is reinforced at the knee and seat areas . We ’ re yet to see the Rallye 2 pants assessed by MotoCAP but can say that similar pants by Motodry have been tested with the same material and are rated just 0.5 out of 5 for safety , failing abrasion and impact . Knee and hip protection ( CE rated but the level is not stated ) is supplied however , on our test pants they seemed to be in the wrong position .
An area where the Rallye 2 does shine is during burst tests , quality double stitching adds to the already impression look and feel of the pant , that is coupled with a double removeable liner system providing both thermal and water protection . Both work well but are uncomfortable when fitted .
The Rallye 2 fits well , in some areas . We found that the waste measurements were spot on and extremely comfortable however , leg length was well short of the mark . We know these things are never perfect but the Rallye 2 ’ s legs seemed to come straight from the Michael Jackson house of fashion . A major drawback .
There ’ s major functional issues with the Motodry Rallye 2 , an adventure pant with only two pockets and nothing more than small hip pockets at that . Two tiny front leg vents have replaced the space for larger pockets , and the truth is , these vents do very little when opened so please Motodry give us some larger thigh pockets were things like travel documents and
