Moto Morini has kept all design and research within Italy something that has benefitted its successful X-Cape model . No new models were released at EICMA , but a ‘ style-study ’ has seen the X-Cape get driven more towards offroad through design adaptations to the muffler , seat , suspension , front fairing . The X-Cape has a dirt-based DNA and now it looks as if it will show .
Offroad is something at the heart of former Dakar three-time podium placer , Franco Picco who helped develop the Fantic XEF 450 Rally that took part in last years Dakar . Picco helped display the Fantic Caballero 700 scrambler and announced that he would take part in Dakar 2023 , his 29th start , at the age of sixty-seven .
The Caballero is equipped with a parallel twin of 689cc and 75hp , but it was the announcement that the Fantic XEF 450 Rally will be released as a fifty unit ‘ Factory ’ limited series in honour of Picco taking part in the 2023 event .
Ducati had to be present and did so with its ‘ rally ’ version of the Multistrada V4 , a bike designed for long distances despite the terrain plus a fresh look Desert X , at least the cosmetics of the paint scheme .
The British were represented in the adventure stakes by Triumph who released their new Tigers , the 900 and
