The International Motorcycle and Accessories Exhibition ( EICMA ) is said to be the World ' s most influential trade show for the enture two-wheeled sector . Since the very first EICMA in 1914 , it has been a showcase for manufacturers , retailers and businesses , drawing in visitors from across the globe . The 2022 EICMA , held in its traditional home of Milan , Italy , didn ' t disappoint with record number of exhibits and displays matched by the visitor numbers . We sent Italian locals Emilio Salvatori and Christina Zoli along to see what the latest trends are , especially in the world of adventure , where they discovered the EICMA Effect ...
It is of medium displacement , designed for travel and adventure , the ideal motorcycle from all proposals put forward by motorcycle manufacturers present at EICMA 2023 , the international fair dedicated to the world of motorcycles held in Milan between November 8 to 13 , 2022 .
The expected edition which , after the difficulties of COVID , was back in all its glory , albeit still with some important absences such as those , of BMW and KTM who preferred Intermot to the Milan fair .
Despite these important absences , Milan had been able to give all fans , who crowded its pavilions , a great show , especially with the world premiere of the Transalp , a historic model for Honda . The former favourite was back with much fanfare . Displaying a displacement of 755cc , amongst it ’ s 208-kilogram weight , a 21-inch front wheel and 18 rear putting 93 horsepower to the road and managed by five engine maps , the Italian designed Honda Transalp XL750 was presented in traditional colours , a move that is hoped will repeat the success of the Africa Twin .
It ' s early days but the Transalp will surely be placed amongst the top ten of its contemporaries , that of BMW , KTM , Ducati , and Triumph , and might provide serious competition to the Yamaha T700 and Aprilia Tuareg 660 . Moto Morini and Benelli are also in the hunt , the latter producing the TRK502 X , Italy ’ s best-selling bike of its type in 2022 , defeating BMW and the GS .
It ' s a shot that has seen Japan take notice . Suzuki used EICMA to launch the new V-Strom 800DE . Both the V-Strom 650 and 1050 have been revisited yet the 800 is completely new with an inline twin of 776cc and 83hp at 8,500rpm , and presenting respectable torque of 78Nm at 6,800rpm . The engine is mated to a 6-speed box through a clutch assisted with an anti-hoping system , all cradled within a steel frame .
The 800DE ’ s wheels , as with the 1050 , are spoked with a 21-inch front and a 17-inch rear , while the range of accessories ( from the hardcase set to the sump guard ) is built for adventure travel .
The emergence of China in recent years has driven other manufacturers to change . CF Moto officially presented its 800 MT Touring , which too enters the midsized market . Based on a KTM platform the 800MT has a 799cc twin , not surprising considering KTM sources a number of its engines and components from China . Power output from the engine is 91hp at 9,000rpm and held in a steel tubular frame , while the rear end sees an
