TRAVERSE :
Keep On Riding
Watching as a group of riders worked feverishly on a strangers bike is the best way to renew ones faith in humanity .
This was an annual event held in Australia ’ s outback Flinders Ranges ( see page 67 for Classic a full report of the Flinders Classic ), it mattered little of the location as this was a gathering of riders who were determined to ensure that a fellow rider could continue and get to the end . This is a common occurrence in the motorcycling fraternity , we look out for each other , to ensure everyone is safe and able to return home to loved ones .
Riding Australian roads in recent weeks I ’ ve wondered why this doesn ’ t extend to those sat inside cars ? There even seems to be a neglect to ensure someone broken down on the roadside is alright , as road users with four , or more , wheels we seem to just drive on by without a care . Why ?
Are those cocooned away in their rolling goldfish bowls so far
removed from the rest of the world that nothing else matters ?
Witnessing the comradery shown in the Flinders Ranges was enlightening , it ’ s what makes motorcycling a community regardless of what you ride and where you go . It ’ s a community found all over the world from the most urban of cities to the remote reaches of outback Australia , a community where we all come together to ensure that everyone keeps on riding . So , let ’ s keep on riding …
