the Into Thin Air expedition , the ride now turns west . An amazing road paved with concrete stones , all hand laid , a unique experience on the aptly named Royal Enfield Himalayans . It ’ s a tourist road made more manic by the Hindu pilgrims visiting the Amarnath Cave , home to a glacial stalagmite said to be the Shiva Lingam or sign of the Hindu god . The temporary pilgrim village is like no other , a crowded , hectic , religious tent city .
Srinagar marks the end of the Motorcycle Expeditions Into Thin Air ride . Dry , arid lands give way to lush forests , wide rivers , and deep lakes . Riders trade two wheels for traditional boats , a Shikara , the traditional waterborne taxi of Dal Lake , home for the final two nights .
Dal Lake is central to Srinagar , a hub for tourism and commercial activities . It detracts little as the traditional Mughal gardens , parks and houseboats provide an utterly unique experience on the waters of the lake of flowers .
❒ Motorcycle Expeditions invited Traverse to travel along on one of their season 2022 Into Thin Air rides . Due to tourism difficulties in Leh we were diverted from the original planned route enabling us to visit communities not often done so by the regions ' motorcycle tour companies , providing a greater experience of the area including the occasional tougher riding conditions .
