sister was mortified , he was thrilled . A seed was sown despite his father doing his best to prevent germination , bikes were dangerous , Fab was not to have one .
“ Dad always said ‘ no ’, but it was always there , the cool bikes of the seventies , always in my mind ,” he laughed . “ And now it ’ s something I want to share with riders of all types .”
As we sipped a coffee in a street front café the pedestrians continually stopped and looked at the bike out front , a Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 , a more than capable twin that is not only cool to look at but just as much fun to ride . The more contemporary looking bikes across the road received no comments , not even a sideways glance .
Fab explained that that is the ethos of 73Moto , to look cool , to feel cool , “ we want that feel of a bygone era , when riders wore leather and inappropriate helmets , enjoying their surrounds ad enjoying the lifestyle and comradery of bikes .
“ Is there any better way to do so on the Great Ocean Road than an air-cooled twin ?” shrugged Fab . “ Look at it .”
It ’ s hard to disagree but there ’ s more in the 73Moto range , there ’ s also Royal Enfield ’ s other 650 , the Interceptor , with its more traveller-based look , or step it up to the Triumph Street Scrambler 900 . There ’ s a theme here , simple styling with an old school British feel . All harking back to when riders got on a bike and headed into the unknown without a need for electronic devices that take so much away from the experience .
“ Yeah , we keep it simple ,” Fab grinned again . “ Back to a time when the bikes were simple and the riders simpler , the riders at one with the machine .
“ What ’ s better than getting on a bike and riding that ?” he motioned to the road winding its way back along the
