Designed for long distance motorcycle travel , the ADVWorx 20 litre soft panniers promise to be some of the best on the market , we ’ ve been using some on a variety of bike and well , they come quite close .
Constructed from 1000D Thermoplastic Polyurethane , said to be stronger than both PVC and Tarpaulin vinyl , yet the same weight , the ADVWorx panniers fit most existing pannier frames through a four-point hook and loop butterfly clip system . The system works , ours have
been fitted to a Yamaha XJR1200 , a BMW F800GSA , and a Yamaha XV1600 , all of them held firmly in place over a variety of conditions , both riding and weather .
The beauty is that there ’ s an included strap to attach over or under the pillion seat to secure the bags for added piece of mind , a terrific addition that also comes with a spare strap so that just one bag can be used if required . All of the straps are replaceable should the need arise .
Construction of the ADVWorx panniers is well done , seemingly sturdy enough to cope with most conditions , even the occasional drop . And the design is well thought through , by bike rider who knew that what they want is probably what most riders want .
A stiffened PE board holds the panniers in shape . The internally placed board is removeable and said to be capable of being used as a bone splint in case of emergency , we haven ’ t assessed this but wouldn ’ t put it past our editor to give it a go . Padded handles on top of the panniers allow for ease of carrying , they are comfortable and cope well with 20 kilograms of weight .
Waterproof ? Supposed to be . We found a little dampness in both panniers on at least one occasion , yet we are quick to point out that this could be operator error , so we won ’ t pass judgement . The design is as good as any other product on the market , roll top with tension straps on either side as well as additional straps over the top that can also be used to carry
