Closing the gap on the contemporary and the future is often an undertaking fraught with danger , those that can ’ t see ahead are quick to dismiss . The adventure motorcycle market is a glaring example , yet one manufacturer has taken huge steps to close that gap .
At the forefront of electric vehicle design and manufacture is Italian company Energica . Based in motor valley , Modena , the home of many of the worlds best known automotive brands , Energica is at the top of electric motorcycle design and innovation .
Believing that they ‘ lead the charge ’ in electric mobility , Energica has started to address the shortcomings of mass electric vehicle , notably the motorcycle .
Energica , often associated with sports bikes , took the first steps to produce a touring / adventure bike that is capable of some sort of distance travel , what they suggest is 420 kilometres of urban riding and around 250 kilometres for highway or continued running .
The Energica Experia has the largest capacity battery of any motorcycle and as further developments are made it is suggested that this bike could be the first serious contender for travelling motorcyclists . With its increased battery capacity hasn ’ t meant an increase in size or weight , its placement has created a lower centre of gravity . Battery capacity is rated at 22.5kWh .
Energica says the Experia has a power output of 75kW
