largest crowd of the weekend . The many dirt and enduro styled bikes at home , the large cruisers well out of their depth , challenging the riders with trying to stay away from the incoming tide .
The beach racing , the more serious course of the weekend , whipped up a frenzy as everyone suddenly became serious amongst the dunes . With rain falling , oohs and ahs bounced against the incoming waves , and still the riders laughed . It ’ s the nature of the Spoke Festival .
With nightfall and an easing of the rain , the after dark activities took place . A bar opened and tunes reverberated through the crowd , laughter rang true as stories of motorcycle misadventure became more elaborate as the night wore on . No one cared or judged , laughter increased in volume and occurrence .
The third day cut short as many riders chose not to take part , rain-soaked land , beer-soaked heads ? It mattered little , as everyone reluctantly packed their camps , enjoying a story with newly made friends and who could argue that the Spoke Motorcycle Festival was an enormous success , and will certainly grow in coming years . And as if you need a reason , there is now no excuse to add Tasmania to your annual riding calendar . TRAVERSE
