The predawn sea mist thinned as the first rays of day climbed above the Freycinet National Park . The peaks contained in a dreamlike silhouetted haze on the horizon , across the bay that shelters small islands with names like Little Christmas . It was a glorious scene , still , serene , welcoming .
In the distance something stirred , a birdsong shattered the still , across a small beach activity was evident , a number of teepee styled tents , illuminated by the morning light , displayed no sign of activity , these were those ‘ consigned ’ to the VIP accommodation . A motorcycle festival with a VIP section , who would ’ ve thought ?
This was the Spoke Motorcycle Festival , unashamedly copied from the format of the British Malle Mile , an event that brings motorcyclists of all sorts together , the Tasmanian event the brainchild of Brett Withington .
“ A group of people connecting through their common passion ,” explained Brett discussing the concept of Spoke and the Malle Mile . “ Leaving their day to day behind to spend time with like-minded people and creating new friendships ."
