Turning off the bitumen , our tyres begin to move and squirm , the surface now a loose granite cover , over a hard-packed base , providing the perfect opportunity for rear wheels to lose traction and move sideways . The only concern a fastmoving school bus , not stopping for anyone ! An occasional local bovine occupies the road , slowing our progress as we cautiously pass .
Leaving the formed road , we ride into nirvana , river crossings , hill climbs , magic sunsets , captivating campfires , and amazing stories . At the time , we had no idea how much more adventure would be ahead of us .
Arriving at “ The Palace ”, with bikes parked and beds sorted , beers are cracked , a fire is built and lit , dinner is started , and the stories start to flow … PL
