The TOP Mountain Crosspoint - at an altitude of 2,175 metres and designed by the architect Michael Broetz - is unique in the alpine area and fulfils four functions : a restaurant , a 10-person gondola lift , the Timmelsjoch tollgate and the TOP Mountain Motorcycle Museum .
The toll station for the Timmelsjoch – the indirect gateway to the south – marks the starting point of the adventure road from North to South Tyrol , which counts as a favourite destination for car and motorcycle enthusiasts .
The exhibition space of the TOP Mountain Motorcycle Museum is architecturally remarkable in itself , and the combination with the exhibition results in an experience like few others - even if you are not a motorcyclist yourself !
Since April 2016 , over 450 classic motorbikes and vintage cars from various manufacturers from the collection of Attila and Alban Scheiber and other collectors has been presented on 4,500m ². Selected exhibits of the following brands are on permanent display in the museum : Moto Guzzi , MV Augusta , Ducati , BMW , NSU , DKW , Zündapp , Triumph , Sunbeam , Norton , Matchless , A . J . S ., Brough Superior , Vincent , Honda , Henderson , Indian , Harley Davidson and many , many more .
In January 2021 , the motorbike museum on the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road with over 350 unique exhibits was ravaged by fire and almost completely destroyed , a huge loss for the entire motorbike and classic car community . However , Attila and Scheiber did not give up their lifelong dream .
A few months after the fire , the TOP Mountain Motorcycle Museum has reopened ( 18 / 11 / 2021 ) - larger , more spectacular , more informative and more exciting ! The TOP Mountain Motorcycle Museum is something that shouldn ' t be missed .
