from 2022 will use a percentage of recycled polyethylene terephthalate ( PET ) in the construction of tyre carcasses , the goal being to be 100 % recycled before too long .
Another company doing its bit is strap manufacturer Wraptie . The Australian owned company uses recycled plastic bottles to create a fibre that in turn is woven into webbing for their straps . Since coming to market Wraptie has prevented 50,000 bottles from heading to landfill , incineration or worse … our oceans .
But we can do more , and we don ’ t need governments to ban products we need to be aware , cutting down on unnecessary packaging , the releasing of balloons , careful transportation of plastic products .
There are a number of ways that Tangaroa Blue can be helped , volunteering just one of them . It ’ s an experience that has changed Keith as it has many before him .
“ All volunteers are from all walks of life and age groups ,” Keith smiles . “ They just want a cleaner and better world .
“ The people who volunteer have had a significant impact on me ,” he continues . “ They are all so passionate about Tangaroa Blue and what they are doing .
“ I would have never thought on this year of travelling around Australia on a motorbike I would have found an effective way of giving back to mother earth . Happy I found a way and I will keep on giving a little back .”
