the station owners , to reflect on what such an event means , while many awards are presented to deserving riders or auctioned for charity , all donated by sponsors of the Classic .
Stuart quickly points out that events such as the Flinders Classic can ’ t happen without a team of volunteers including the owners of the Angorichina Village and the Blinman Hotel , Dave , and Caroline Scicluna .
“ These two legends have put up with us bunch of nutbags for fourteen years ,” laughs Stuart . “ They have done so much to help open stations for us to ride on .
“ The Classic owes as much to Dave and Caroline as it does to anyone . Without them it wouldn ’ t be the same .”
Most riders become addicted to the area in the Finders Ranges around the Angorichina Village and Blinman , often returning with friends and family so that they too can experience the wonderful landscapes . Small local communities are supported , benefitting everyone .
The Flinders Classic is a unique event offering adventure riding of all standards , some take it seriously , making a ‘ competitive ’ event of it while most just enjoy the experience , making new friends and exploring outback South Australia .
Put it in your calendar , Flinders Classic XV will be held in late August 2022 .
