Green Lake a place we would need to return to on a coming ride .
Ten kilometres north lay the town of Sea Lake . A once thriving grain farming community , Sea Lake had had a downturn of fortunes during the 1980s , yet in recent years the interest in the region sparked by Asian tourists ’ drawn to the pink colouring of the nearby Lake Tyrell has reinvigorated the community . Tourism has been embraced and new facilities have seen the town take a step into the modern world .

Hopetoun , not unlike Sea Lake , was once a thriving farming community that was now forced into change . Tourism has been the saviour , with the lake amongst the town a major feature . The community is responsible for the upkeep of the area and while easily accessible and certainly a nice respite from the weather ; Hopetoun is regarded as Victoria ’ s hottest town with a highest recorded temperature of 48.8 degrees Celsius in 2009 , the area around Lake Lascelles does feel like a modern caravan park and not for us .
