“ Well for me it encompasses so much more than just the freedom ,” grins Craig Baldwin as he explains why he rides . “ The feeling of the wind in my hair is somewhat hard given the distinct lack of hair these days .”
Craig continues that he rides to be “ present in the moment ” and as he says it ’ s all we have at this very moment .
“ For some a lot of time is consumed by the past or the future ,” he adds . “ Time spent dissecting past events and what happened or if anything could have been done differently .
“ Or they focus on future events , ‘ this time next year I ’ ll be … ‘, or worried about tomorrow ’ s meeting .
“ But how many people truly live in the here and now and just enjoy the present moment ?” he asks .
It ’ s a concept that many of us consider yet how many truly accept it and do live in the moment ? Perhaps all that ride .
When you consider what riding a motorcycle means , then the living in the moment concept that Craig speaks of makes sense . We all do live in the moment at that particle second of time .
“ Taking in all that riding encompasses like the line I take on the road ,” explains Craig . “ The amazing skies and cloud formations in front of me , the amazement of the mountain ranges and landscape all around . It ’ s engaging with the immediate .”
Craig smiles that he grew up with a Honda Trike , one of those 110cc monsters that were the cause of so many injuries and worse , during the 1980s and 90s .
“ It was red , it was fast , at least fast for a kid under 10 , and it was a lot of fun ,” he laughs .
The trike went with the Baldwin family on all annual holidays where riding was along beach fronts and
