the side of the road we decided to try and limp the bike back down to Hawker to see what our next move would be . Ten kilometres later the bike completely gave up .
I had no clutch and the gearbox had packed it in . Essentially , we were stranded on the side of the road faced with what turned out to be the end of my adventure .
We eventually got the bike rescued and made our way to Port Augusta where my fate was signed sealed and delivered . This was the end of my trip . Poor Kramer would not be able to be fixed in time for me to continue on the journey . To say I was gutted was a huge understatement . My journey to find that missing piece within me and regain some of my inner self peace was now left in pieces at the local Yamaha dealer in town . I was forced to catch a bus to Adelaide and catch a flight back home to Brisbane . My bike would need to be shipped back home at a later date .
What was my first major trip on my bike and a journey I had invested a lot of time into had ended in tears . That ’ s life though , I guess , and what that now means is that I have some unfinished business .
For the week and a half that I was in the adventure I had some absolutely fantastic times and will be left with some amazing memories that I will never forget . Also getting to experience the journey with my brother by my side was just special and words can ’ t describe how grateful I am to have done this with him .
My brother continued along the journey after I flew home and eventually he made it home for Easter but for me being back home had allowed me to take stock and work out what my next move would be .
I came remarkably close to saying goodbye to Kramer but in my heart I knew that I couldn ’ t just leave him interstate broken so I made the call to continue to ship it home and start the rebuild process .
For now the rebuild has begun and the planning has started for the next adventure wherever that may be . CB
