ultimately finished over three minutes ahead to increase his total race advantage to an incredible 27 minutes and 28 seconds , after close to 20 hours of racing .
The win moves Lettenbichler to the top of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship standings .
Behind the overall winner was a tale of endurance of all levels as the more than 450 riders attempted to bring their bikes home . Numerous struggled and fell by the wayside , many more finished the world ’ s hardest enduro , all winners for just taking on such an event . But perhaps Polish legend , Taddy Blakusiak summed it up best .
“ It ’ s been a wild event with crashes and navigational mistakes , but this is hard enduro and I really love the challenge of it ,” the GasGas rider grinned after finishing sixth . “ The adrenalin took over today as I had a big crash yesterday and hurt my shoulder , but I was able to ride through the pain and finish .”
