Trail Of The Jaguar Jonathan Hanson 2021 ISBN 978-0-9910019-5-8
Combining fictious story telling with that of fact is often fraught with danger , some have the gift of transitioning between the two , many struggle and the story suffers .
Jonathan Hanson , an author of note with books that cover natural history , wildlife , expedition , and adventure , has turned his hand to fiction with Trail Of The Jaguar ; A Clayton T Porter Adventure . With a background in expedition and adventure , Hanson has crafted what is being billed as a thriller , a tale of wildlife exploitation , corruption , and crime .
The early pages give an idea that the protagonist , Porter , is loosely based on Hanson ’ s selfexperiences and as a reader we are drawn into a world of wildlife , nature , and conservation . It works , and it works well unfortunately , what doesn ’ t work is the continued brand name dropping and overuse of technical details about such products ; bags , helicopters , kayaks , and guns .
Trail Of The Jaguar , while not quite working as a thriller does work as a self-styled crime fighting novel that highlights areas of animal conservation and human greed . It highlights the plight of numerous species , non-less than the large cats of central America . There ’ s also a jibe at a former President that built a wall across the southern border of the USA , and what this means for the animal population .
An enjoyable page turning read , Trail Of The Jaguar seems to be just the beginning for the adventures of Clayton T Porter , we hope that his character develops and becomes a little more focused on the adventure and experience , and less on the technical .
