the lowest , you couldn ’ t live on these for any length of time . Our suggestion : have the Indomie noodles ( or similar products ) when in a pinch and don ’ t rely on them for a somewhat healthy option .
Surprisingly , two brands , by the same manufacturer did rate overall lower than the cheap supermarket brand while two others rated similar results .
New Zealand based Back Country Foods Ltd produce both the Back Country Cuisine and Outdoor Gourmet Company brands . Both have their merits , they ’ re easily purchased through many retail outlets , but unfortunately it does seem to end there .
Back Country Cuisine is the cheaper of the two brands yet still middle of the road . Package weight and water consumption both rated highly with an average weight of 90 grams per serve and water required averaging around just 210ml per serve .
The more expensive , Outdoor Gourmet Company , had a similar average package weight yet water consumption was more than twice as much . This is a huge negative when considering what food options to take .
Not surprisingly both products by Back Country Foods have similar cook times and nutritional values , both rated slightly better than the much more costeffective noodles . What did surprise was the taste , both either side of the noodles .
The two brands by Back Country Foods have varying meal options , so that you ’ re not eating the same thing every day , yet at around $ 17.00 per serve they could be seen as not for most travellers .
Next on our list was a product that came with high expectations .
