“ I received an SMS from Luca ' s friend asking me if Luca was with me ,” explains Giulia , a level of emotion creeping in . “ I was still at work and I told him that he was supposed to be at home .”
That day Luca didn ' t get home and it took just a few phone calls to figure out where he was , he had been taken to the hospital .
Nobody immediately understood the gravity of the situation , not until the police and doctors explained what happened . Luca had been hit by a car on his way home from work , he hadn ’ t been driving the van as usual ... it was hot that day and decided to take his motorbike instead .
The doctors had no hope , Luca had a lot of fractures and they were sure he had hit his head . They were wrong , he had no internal bleeding , and his head was incredibly safe . He woke after 5 days of intensive care , screaming that he wanted to be released to go on vacation . That ' s right , that was his first thought .
Until a few months prior , he ’ d been fascinated by sport bikes , super-fast and powerful . Then motorcycle adventures started to tempt him , and he had recently gone from a nervous Honda CBR1000 to a more comfortable Aprilia Tuono . He had been working hard for months and finally wanted to take his first real bike trip ... but now that dream had to wait .
