The marketplace is jam packed with motorcycle luggage options , hard , soft , large , small , everything is covered . It ’ s often hard to find something that stands out yet when we were handed a set of Tully Tailbags by Flying Solo Gear , we couldn ’ t help think , “ hmm , there ’ s something that could be adapted ”.
Flying Solo Gear is a small Melbourne ( Australia ) based business and importantly a business run by motorcyclists who don ’ t mind having a go , and there lays their moto , “ Be Brave ”.
As motorcyclists they looked at the many varied options available as tailbags , and whilst many did the job , none were perfect . Audaciously , lead by Flying Solo Gear founder , Amanda Phoenix , the team set about creating a tailbag , that is not
only functional , but durable , adaptable , and sensible .
The Tully Tailbag comes in two sizes , both perfect for many purposes , a 7 litre ( 280mm ( L ) x 250mm ( W ) x 150mm ( H )) small bag and a 15 litre ( 400mm ( L ) x 260mm ( W ) x 160mm ( H )) option . The design allows for the tailbag to be used as a simple go anywhere bag or something that can in fact be used for a few nights away , even while hitting the bush or outback .
The simplicity of the design allows for the contents of the Tully to be accessed without the need to undo or removed straps ; a waterproof zip allows ease of access . And the zip is truly waterproof , we tested in both the rain and with a high-pressure washer , the contents , camera gear worth a few thousand dollars was untouched . We liked the look of the zip and were confident it would do as we were told . It did .
The zip itself has a T-bar grip to allow ease of use whilst wearing gloves . This thing works perfectly . All seams worked as promised too , laser welded and reinforced , water nor dust was getting in and the strength of the welds was as good as any on the market .
