On standing atop the podium Benavides said he was incredibly happy with the result , “ I needed it too . It ’ s a victory that rewards all the effort we have made . Now , we are going to continue with all the preparations to reach the 2021 Dakar in even better conditions .”
In the Moto Rally 2 class Canada based Australian Matt Sutherland ( KTM 450 Rally ) finished 6th in the class standings less than an hour off the class lead .
If the Andalucía Rally is anything to go by Dakar 2021 looks like being one of the most open events in recent times , all of the factory teams have a chance with most riders in form and a reduced lead up schedule shaking things up . Dakar begins on January 3 in Saudi Arabia .
