Planning for the ride also involved the opportunity to ‘ freshen ’ up the bike . Purchasing a new piece of kit . That shiny new helmet , a new riding jacket , or some new fancy foot pegs .
In preparation for the ride , some bikes had knobby tyres replaced with more road-oriented versions . Knuckles skinned and profanities exchanged as cantankerous beads refused to fold over steel rims .
Generous doses of premium fuel were purchased , riders eager to combine fossil fuels with spark and air , generating forward motion . That same motion creating an aurally delightful exhaust note and facial expressions of pleasure .
Riders free from COVID related restrictions , flexed their right wrist , enjoying the helmet time , reinvigorated , reconnected with their motorcycles and the experiences only a motorcycle can bring .
Motorcycling contributes significantly to the economy – latest figures show the industry is worth about AU $ 2bn 1 . That ’ s AU $ 2bn spent on motorcycling and related activities in Australia each year .
