Keith got the bike 6 years ago. Whilst living in the United Kingdom he’d had the opportunity to test ride an Africa Twin over there. “I fell in love with it straight away,” he laughs. “But that bike wasn’t to be.” Returning to his home in Melbourne, Australia he immediately started searching the motorcycle for sale listings. “There she was, over in Perth,” he laughs again. Keith was able to get a friend to have a look at the bike on the other side of the Australian continent, the deal was done. “I sent the coin, flew to Perth and rode her back to Melbourne.” Three and a half thousand kilometres, not much compared to most yet an epic journey on a bike the rider had never ridden and an unknown quantity. Keith says this was one of his most memorable rides, a memorable moment. As he puts it, “the fuel pump shit itself on the way over from Perth. “I had a great experience meeting people who helped me out with the use of a garage and gave me a bed for the night.” A common occurrence: motorcycle travellers being helped by strangers … oh, and fuel pump problems for 20 years old Africa Twins.
