guys were checking out the sidecar
and noticed something we hadn’t,
the rear tyre had worn completely
through and all the metal wire was
hanging out.
We had absolutely no idea how to
change a tyre, so we started trawling
through our manual. It told us
nothing. After an hour of trying
to do it ourselves with no progress
whatsoever, we let the Sudanese guys
have their turn. They were a little
less delicate than us and in seemingly
no time at all they had whipped off
the exhaust and the swinging arm,
pulled the wheel off and changed the
tyre.
Getting it back together was a
whole different story.
It turned out they had sheered two
bolts off while getting the exhaust off
and lost a couple more in the process.
The next thing I knew I was sitting on
the back of this guys little motorbike
and racing off down sand roads to
the industrial part of town, clinging
