my fingers crossed stopping at every gas station to top the air up. There was an accident on the freeway so we ground to a halt the tyre slowly deflating but my karma must have been good because it held up almost all the way, I rode the last mile on a flat tyre. Couchsurfing with John in Indianapolis, what a star, he took me to catch the bus to the racetrack and arranged to pick me up, but on leaving the track I got on the wrong bus and ended up I knew not where. Luckily, a lady lent me her phone to ring John, he worked out where I was and picked me up. We finished off a brilliant day with a Memorial Day BBQ with all his friends. I love serendipity and with no fixed plan I had got to go to the Indianapolis 500. It set the scene for the whole trip. The following day another of his friends took me and my wheel to town to get it fixed. Onto Peoria, Illinois and a visit with Matt a fellow biker, we didn’t need an excuse for a day out on the bikes. Des Moines Iowa, where there are more pigs than people, Allen and Michael a lovely couple and my own ensuite, living it up now.
