“Similar to a natural disaster,” is how key economist
at Moody’s, Ryan Sweet described the hit to
the world economy due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
An understatement, not doubt, yet Sweet was
talking of the sudden impact to financial markets and the
immediate downturn in the labour force, something that
economists expect to worsen as the pandemic continues.
The current human toll is horrific; the predicted toll on
healthcare, lives and economies is disastrous however,
how we plan now will determine how we come out the
other end.
